STUDENT WELFARE FUND |
KREC ALUMNI numbering about 500 met during a memorable occasion of FIRST GLOBAL CONVENTION during last week of December,1998 at KREC Campus for two days and planned few activities as service to ALMA MATER. |
Few KRECians who were scholarship holders during their student days suggested why ALUMNI should not promote STUDENT WELFARE FUND for benefit of present students of KREC and financial assistance may be provided as loan to needy students. Idea was well received and KREC/NITK ALUMNI STUDENT WELFARE FUND was floated with small beginning with Rs.40,000/- as seed money which was surplus during that event. |
Few of KRECians donated generousely to this FUND later on and at present it has a corpus of Rs.26,50,000/-( Rupees Twenty six lakhs and fifty thoudand only ). An ambitious target of Rs. ONE CRORE has been fixed before it becomes TEN YEARS old by December, 2008. |
Activity was quite useful for needy students and about 80 students were given assistance in the form of mess charges, tuition fees, medical assistance, etc. Fund has advanced to the tune of RS.8,72,250/- till August,2007 and special feature of this FUND
is that some assistance is available to the students to meet exigencies. Of course, amount received as assistance has to be repaid after student starts earning and students pay back dues promptly and overdue amount is very small.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Association has started financial assistance to students to participate for presenting research papers in National and International seminars. Students have been asked to request in case they need assistance to do project works of outstanding nature during their course |
Alumni are requested to contribute generously to this FUND and contributions are eligible for ONE HUNDRED PERCENT DEDUCTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCOME TAX CALCULATIONS. |
Contributions can be made by Cheque/ DD in favour of DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY KARNATAKA, SURATHKAL indicating the purpose of donation and sent to Mr.Y.SURESH KUMAR, Asst.Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NITK SURATHKAL, SRINIVASNAGAR 575025 who is the Convener of the FUND. |
FUND is managed by representatives of ALUMNI and INSTITUTE and Managing Committee is headed by Director of Institute and Mr. Suresh Kumar who is also Treasurer of Alumni Association is the CONVENER. |
